SOCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE IN EUROPE

Returns on investments, returns for people

What is Social Infrastructure?

Social infrastructure is about buildings that benefit society. We define social infrastructure as a dual-return asset class. It provides the opportunity to make a positive impact on society and the environment. And from an investment perspective, the potential for inflation-linked cash flow with a low correlation to GDP and the economic cycle.

BUILDING STRONG COMMUNITIES

The impact element is about building strong communities. Providing facilities for the education, housing and healthcare sectors, as well as the justice, emergency and civic services that shape our towns and cities.

INVESTMENT GAP

Governments account for the majority of investments in social infrastructure. However, the financial crisis has led to cutbacks in public spending. This, and the growing demand for social infrastructure in Europe, provides opportunities for institutional investors to participate in the sector.

Franklin Templeton Social Infrastructure fund

Franklin Templeton Social Infrastructure Fund - an open-ended Luxembourg vehicle - seeks to identify ”win-win” investment opportunities where an impact return is achieved together with a financial return at market level.

Diversified pan-European portfolio across the healthcare, education, housing, justice & emergency and civic sectors of social infrastructure.

Impact is managed and measured following a proprietary impact management model. Holdings are assessed to ensure we are meeting our impact objectives, which have been designed in accordance with six of the seventeen United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
